The sustainability and sustainability goals associated with energy efficiency projects imply higher costs and in order to achieve them, the criterion of the lowest price in public contracts should disappear, said Liviu Tanase, president of the Dobrogea branch of the Employers’ Association of Construction Companies.
“Energy efficiency is not the cheapest solution, it is a long-term solution. It’s a challenge because we have to change the perspective of contracting and of evaluating targets. The lowest price is not the key criterion,” said Tanase, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Constanța”.
Thus, sustainability and sustainability must also be seen from an economic perspective, as energy efficiency objectives oblige construction companies to offer higher quality in the design and execution of construction works.
For a builder, energy efficiency is a challenge as it involves more advanced technological systems, but for the public beneficiary of a construction project, energy efficiency translates into sustainability and durability, and these two terms put construction companies in a position to significantly increase the value of an investment.
“When we talk about the lowest price, we’re basically talking about superficiality,” he continued.
For this reason, construction companies and public beneficiaries should agree new budgets that highlight the energy efficiency solutions used in the construction process.
