Accelerating the European integration process is more important than ever, said the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in her statement on Monday, February 28th.
“I am actively communicating, during this period, with the external partners of our country. We have been talking in recent days with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, the French President Emmanuel Macron, the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, the Prime Ministers of Canada, the Netherlands and Spain, Justin Trudeau, Mark Rutte and Pedro Sanchez. The international community greatly appreciates the humanitarian effort of our country and is ready to assist us in this endeavor. My interlocutors reconfirmed their support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine – and that of the Republic of Moldova,” said Maia Sandu.
“Our partners and friends fully support our right to decide our own destiny and to move forward on the path of European integration. I have repeatedly told my interlocutors that in these difficult times for the Republic of Moldova, European integration is the most important guarantee that our country will remain part of the free world, in which human dignity, human rights and freedoms are valued and respected- and are the safest way to substantially improve the living conditions of our citizens. At this very moment, accelerating the process of European integration is more important than ever for us. We will continue our efforts to anchor the Republic of Moldova in the European value space,” added Maia Sandu.
