Maia Sandu, the president of the Action and Solidarity Party, won the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova, after counting over 99.7% of the votes cast in the second round of elections, on Sunday, November 15. Maia Sandu obtained 57.3% of the votes, compared to only 42.3% for the incumbent president Igor Dodon. The result confirms the results of the exit polls carried out by the company “Intellect Group” in collaboration with the SPERO association and of the telephone after-poll carried out by the WatchDog.md Community and the Institute of Public Policies.

According to Agerpres, the poll conducted at the exit of the polls by Intellect Group and SPERO, taken by the local press and international news agencies, the opposition leader overtook the current president Igor Dodon after obtaining 54.8% of the total number of votes. 45.2% of voters would have voted for Dodon, according to the poll released after the polls closed. The margin of error is 5.2%.
According to the preliminary results of the telephone after-poll conducted by the WatchDog.md Community and the Institute of Public Policies, Maia Sandu would have obtained 54.7% of the votes, and Igor Dodon – 45.3%. The margin of error is 2.2%.
According to preliminary data, the turnout in the second round of the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova was 52.71% of the electorate.
