Swiss company MET Group is consolidating its presence on the Romanian renewable energy market, starting the construction of an 80 MWp photovoltaic project in Răscăeți commune, Dâmbovița County. In Romania, the company’s renewable energy portfolio includes over 260 MWp generated by photovoltaic plants and 10 MW of energy storage capacity in batteries, located in their proximity.
Three of the four green projects in Romania have already reached the “ready-to-build” phase. The four parks will occupy a total area of 400 hectares in the counties of Arad, Dâmbovița and Bihor.
MET Group aims to become a major player in the European renewable energy industry, and Romania has been identified as one of its strategic markets. MET Group’s Green Assets division actively invests in photovoltaic, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Europe. The portfolio is diversified and includes assets in operation, under construction and in various stages of development. At the same time, MET Group is expanding its technological capabilities by investing in independent BESS projects and integrated storage facilities.
MET Group’s Green Assets division operates in three main business segments. The first one aims at operating and optimizing the Group’s renewable assets. The second segment focuses on developing renewable projects from scratch, which are either integrated into MET Group’s portfolio or offered to partners once they reach the “ready-to-build” phase. In addition, operation and maintenance (O&M) services are provided for both its own assets and those of its partners.
“MET Group’s business strategy and investment profile are perfectly aligned with the priorities of the energy transition. Over the past four years, 70% of the company’s capital expenditure has been directed towards green assets. MET Group is committed to ensuring access to green energy through PPAs for a wide range of customers. These agreements allow consumers to enter into direct purchase contracts with generators, thus guaranteeing a stable, long-term source of green energy at competitive prices,” said Clive Turton, Executive Chairman of the Green Assets Division.
