The Ministry of European Funds has launched the call for projects entitled “Development of intelligent natural gas distribution networks in order to increase the level of flexibility, safety, efficiency in operation, as well as the integration of transport, distribution and final consumption activities”, amounting to 235 million.
“Currently only about 30% of households are connected to the gas network, the goal assumed by the Romanian Government being that over 80% of Romanian homes benefit from this comfort considered normal today. We need to make up for lost years! Countries such as Hungary and Poland have started this journey since 2014 with the help of European funding. The launch on the assumed date of the guide following a complex negotiation process with the European Commission started in December 2019, is already the second step taken by the team of the Ministry of European Funds,” said Minister Marcel Boloș.
“The first step was the adoption by the Romanian Government of Ordinance 128 on July 31 which provides that the value of the National Program for connecting the population and non-household customers to the intelligent natural gas distribution system will benefit from an allocation of another 800 million euro in programming period 2021-2027. In total, one billion euros to close the gap with other European countries.”
Between August 17 and October 17, 2020, the Intercommunity Development Associations (ADI) can submit projects that have as object of activity the public utility service for gas supply of the population, but also the local public authorities (LPA) from the less developed regions of Romania, individually, or in partnership with other LPAs. Each project will have a maximum value of 25 million euros.
