The tire manufacturer Michelin is progressively resuming production at the metal cord factory in Zalău, the tire factory in the same town and the one in Floreşti being closed for the time being.
The company stopped production in all three factories in Romania at the end of March, specifically from March 28 for the cord factory.
“From April 8, the production activity from Zalău Cord is progressively resumed. The necessary sanitary measures have been implemented, according to the legislation in force and with the internal regulations, our priority being to protect the health and safety of our employees. Florești and Zalău Tires plants are still closed, except for certain critical activities or continuous ones, which have a specific program,” Alina Marcu, PR manager Michelin Central and South Europe, told Agerpres on Friday.
Built entirely by Michelin Romania in 2003, the Zalău Cord plant provides metallic cord to the plants within the group, the metallic cord being one of the most important components of the tire casing. About 700 employees work in the factory.
