Digitalization and automation come together with cyber attacks, attacks that have diversified and that put us in difficulty and that find their recipients in the areas with the greatest risks, such as the electricity distribution area, said, on Friday, Mihaela Suciu, general manager of Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania.

“It is a very important topic in the market. We talk about digitalization and automation, but digitalization and automation come together with cyber attacks, attacks that have diversified, attacks that put us in difficulty and that find their recipients in the areas with the highest risks, such as the electricity distribution area. And because our mission, as distributors, is to ensure the continuity of the electricity supply, it is clear that we also have the mission to identify solutions to ensure the security of the energy supply and continuity,” said Suciu, at the Energy Cyber Security Forum, according to Agerpres.

She pointed out that the forum was organized because DEER identified the need to increase cyber security, which arose because of a problem the company had and which led to the need to identify much better solutions than those that he has so far.

“I talked with my colleagues, we thought about what to do because it was clear that we needed solutions and the solution – temporary, it’s true – was the organization of a forum, because in this forum we invited actors from the cyber security market and the energy market, which will certainly give us the solutions. Our expectations are that, at the end of this Forum, both we, DEER, and the other colleagues in the energy market, will leave here with solutions that we can apply. We wish that at this Forum, both those who are here, for reasons of necessity, to identify solutions, and those who come to offer us solutions, to leave as winners,” Mihaela Suciu said.
