A conflict in Ukraine will not lead to problems in Romania’s gas supply, which can ensure its entire consumption from domestic sources with the arrival of spring, said on Tuesday, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, in a conference.
“We will not have problems with energy and gas supply if there is a conflict with Ukraine. Gas imports can be directed quickly through the other routes, Giurgiu and Arad. In addition, the winter has passed and we can ensure from our own resources the necessary consumption of the country,” said the minister, according to Agerpres.
Gas prices are falling on international stock exchanges, Popescu added. For example, gas is now at half of the December price.
Asked what solutions will be applied to consumers from April 1, he replied: “We had a meeting with the Government yesterday (Monday – no.), The solutions are, they are not just short-term, people need to know that they will be insured by on April 1.”
He added that he would make these measures public after they were validated in the coalition.
