The Ministry of Energy has signed 60 new contracts financed by the Modernization Fund, for renewable energy and storage projects intended for self-consumption of public institutions.

The total value of the projects signed on Friday is 115 million lei, of which 100 million represent non-reimbursable funds from the Modernization Fund. The total installed capacity is 15.8 MW.

“We have exceeded 2 billion lei in investments financed for solar parks in local communities.

(…) This moment is part of the effort that I have supported since taking over my first mandate at the Ministry of Energy. To date, I have signed 831 financing contracts at the Ministry of Energy through this call from the Modernization Fund, totaling over 2.1 billion lei, of which the non-reimbursable financing exceeds 1.8 billion lei – that is, over 367 million euros. In total, these investments mean almost 300 MW installed for own consumption”, said the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

“We are talking about hundreds of millions of euros, non-reimbursable funds, which come to Romania without our country having to pay them back, but only to put them to work. And that is what we do every day at the Ministry of Energy. We make the most of the opportunities we have from the Modernization Fund and that is why we are the European champions in attracting money through this fund.

“Every euro used properly and every new MW installed in the energy system means accelerating the development of local communities, prospects for increased jobs, investments and the chance for all Romanians to have lower bills.”
