Monsson has successfully transferred 100% of the shares of a 50 MW wind farm located in the Chișineu-Criș area of Arad County. The project is fully authorised and NEPI Rockcastle Rockcastle plans to start construction in January 2025.

“It is time for large consumers to invest in renewables to make their own consumption more efficient, and this is certainly just the beginning,” said Monsson board member Sebastian Enache. Enache described NEPI Rockcastle as “the largest owner, operator and developer of shopping centres in Central and Eastern Europe”.

The 50 MW project in Chișineu-Criș (Arad) has been part of Monsson’s portfolio since 2022, and in 2024 it obtained the construction permit and signed the grid connection contract. Thus, all the conditions have been secured to start construction in 2025. The project also includes an energy storage unit, designed to optimise the operation of the photovoltaic park and contribute to balancing the national energy system, as all Monsson projects have done in recent years.

In his turn, Andrei Radu, Group Development Director, NEPI Rockcastle, NEPI Rockcastle, referred to the company’s green energy programme. “The first phase, finalised in the first half of 2024, involved the installation of photovoltaic panels on 27 locations in Romania, with a total capacity of 38 MW, generating revenues of 7.3 million euro in the first nine months of the year. In the second phase, we will also install PV panels on our properties outside Romania. The design concept has been finalised for 24 sites already identified and in the authorisation or construction phase. As part of the third phase, we have secured a site for a 50 MW project in the west of the country in partnership with Monsson, which will start in the near future. Moreover, we are already analysing a second site with a potential of more than 100 MW, for which we have allocated almost €100 million,” said Andrei Radu.
