Monsson, a company active in renewable energy, has developed an integrated energy storage solution tailored to the specific requirements of the Romanian market, said Mihaela Popescu, Head of ESS Asset Management Division, Monsson.

“The truth is that we didn’t get here because we wanted to, but because first and foremost we researched the market and we didn’t find a solution on the market that met all our requirements,” explained Popescu, speaking at the conference “Stepping stones for the BESS technologies development”, organised by Energynomics.

The main challenge identified by Monsson was the lack of containerised systems that could be maintained in all weather conditions.

For the Mireasa hybrid project, Monsson uses batteries from Prime, and the company’s patented cooling system keeps the batteries at 20 degrees Celsius, regardless of the outside temperature.

In addition to thermal efficiency, Monsson emphasised safety and redundancy. Another important aspect for Monsson is the system’s flexibility in the face of technological evolution.

“We thought that technology evolves, what we see now will not be the same in five or ten years’ time. We will be able to change any of the system components if it is economically advantageous,” Popescu concluded.

The conference “Stepping stones for the BESS technologies development” was organised by Energynomics, with the support of our partners: AJ Brand, Alive Capital, BCR, Big Store, Elektra Renewable Support, EnergoBit, Enery, Enevo Group, Enexus.
