Producers with a production volume of over 3 million MWh per year must offer 30% of output on the organized natural gas markets in Romania in a well-defined product structure, for a period of two and a half years, said Zoltan Nagy-Bege, Vice President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).
“We are ready to witness, in the next 6, 7, 8 months, a change that will remain in the electricity and natural gas market and will make its mark on this important market, in the Romanian economy as a whole. In addition to the liberalization of procurement in the wholesale market of energy and natural gas and final prices for household consumers – two very important steps for the more than 8 million customers for electricity, respectively over 3.5 million customers for natural gas – are also important steps for us in terms of preparing for this liberalization, control, administration, monitoring of the obligations that have been outlined for the suppliers involved.
”For ANRE there is also the challenge of creating fair trading mechanisms in these wholesale markets, so that competition is reflected in the wholesale markets as well. That is why we have approved that natural gas supply program which obliges producers who have a volume of production of over 3 million MWh per year to offer 30% of their production on the organized markets of natural gas in Romania in a well-defined product structure for a period of two and a half years. The purpose of this gas supply program is for natural gas producers to offer on the Romanian market on four types of products, with monthly, quarterly, seasonal and annual delivery, to ensure access of all suppliers and directly even consumers to gas sources, equal and non-discriminatory,” the ANRE official said, quoted by Agerpres.
