The Board of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) maintained its monetary policy interest rate at 1.75% per annum and also kept constant the minimum reserve requirement ratios for both leu- and foreign currency denomimated savings at the banks, reveals a release of the central bank received by energynomics.ro.
The Romanian interest rate kept steady since May 2015.
Neither the European Central Bank (ECB) will not change the current levels of interest, according to Erkki Liikanen, Council member. ECB keeps main interest rate currently at zero, although there is speculation that could rise from the current minus 0.4% to zero interest the rate on the deposit facility, according to Handelsblatt.
ECB’s main rate is at the current level since March 2016.
