Romania will reach 90% gas storage capacity by the end of the summer season, and this will help prepare for winter, said Franck Neel, member of the OMV Petrom Board, responsible for Gas and Energy activity,

“You saw that already at the end of June we stored more gas than last year. That’s just us, OMV Petrom. So Romania will be at a level of 90% filling degree by the end of the summer season, which helps us a lot much to prepare for the winter. We know that the winters are not so cold anymore. The trend is for the winters to be milder, but there will certainly be days with peak consumption, when we will have a very high consumption, but not in total the winter season. In any case, we do not anticipate any kind of risk regarding the demand or supply side, neither in Romania nor in the region,” said Franck Neel, according to Agerpres.

According to him, the company has the obligation to reach 5 TWh by the end of the summer, and currently it is at a degree of filling the deposits of 3.2 TWh.

“We injected a lot of capacity in July, so we are on schedule, I don’t think there will be any problems. On demand, demand in the first quarter was quite low due to the mild winter, but we saw an increase in demand during the summer , which is still good news. It means that industrial production is recovering. Our forecast is a stable one until the end of the year and we anticipate a fairly good recovery on the B2B (Business-to-Business) side, which was a bit followed last year,” also said Franck Neel.
