The new government program initiated by the National Liberal Party PNL, which formed the new government, proposes in the field of energy, now passed under the subordinate of Liberal Minister Virgil Popescu, first of all to promote BRUA gas pipeline and Neptun Deep Black Sea offshore gas project, because “by using this potential offered especially by the projects in The Black Sea, Romania will be able to become a regional energy security provider for the Republic of Moldova and other countries in our region ”.
Then, PNL promises to eliminate the interim from the state-owned companies, by “restoring competence, efficiency and integrity in the governance of the Romanian energy sector”.

The third high priority is to define the vulnerable consumer. “The way of working so far, through which the entire population of Romania indirectly receives a subsidy, must cease”, reveals the document consulted by energynomics.ro.
The document also provides, in addition to declarative assurances of ensuring the stability and predictability of the legislation or “encouraging the use of gas in petrochemicals” also setting up an Energy Department within the Ministry of Economy. Priorities include the listing on the capital market, in 2020, of Hidroelectrica and the resumption of uranium production. The document suggests the resumption of the Cernavodă project with ” partners close to Romania”, which may mean that the project of Reactors 3 and 4 now has little chance of being perfected with the Chinese firm CGN.
Among the short-term measures, the governance program proposed by PNL included the revision and correction of some normative acts, such as GEO 114/2018, GEO 19/2019 and GEO 43/2019, as well as the draft law for the elimination of the fuel surcharge.
