The new government promises at least 20,000 locations car charging stations for electric vehicles in Romania until 1 January 2020, in accordance with the Government Programme 2017-2020. Thus, the Social Democratic Party (PSD), aims to encourage the auto industry by producing electric cars and plans to extend scrappage program to support the purchase of electric cars.

”In orde to encourage the car industry, more precisely, the production of electric cars, but also in order to meet our EU obligations we will expand the program for financing charging stations for electric cars installation, so that on 1 January 2020 Romania to have at least 20,000 charging points functional in the network”, reads the document.

People who want to purchase an electric car can use the scrappage program.

”Simultaneously, we will extend the scrappage program for purchasing electric cars so that, during 2018-2020, more than 100,000 Romanian will benefit this program in order to purchase an electric car”, it is mentioned in the 2017-2020 Government Programme.

The voucher’s value for an electric car will be EUR 10,000.
