Bucharest’s Mayor Nicusor Dan announced that he requested, on Wednesday, from the Executive, through the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Development, an additional subsidy of about 920 million lei, representing the difference in the subsidy for heat resulting from the increase of the gigacalorie price to 380 lei, as compared to 195 lei in 2020.
“There was a request yesterday from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the prefectures, to all mayoralties, administrative-territorial units. We also gave, so it was a semi-official approach, that discussion we had through the Association of Municipalities with the Prime Minister. Following that discussion, each of the town halls sent the necessary to cover the subsidy and this discussion was provided yesterday through this circuit – town hall, prefecture, MAI, Ministry of Development and we requested the difference in subsidy resulting from the price of 380 lei today, as compared to 195 lei per gigacalorie last year- the production price. We calculated a difference between what was the subsidy that the mayor’s office should pay this year, at this year’s price, and what was the subsidy that was paid last winter. And this difference is of 920 million lei. This is the request we officially made yesterday,” stated, on Thursday, Nicuşor Dan, according to News.ro.
He also said that the price that Bucharest residents pay for heat is of 164 lei and will remain so if nothing is changed by a CGMB decision. He added that it remains to be seen whether changes will be made at the end of this month.
”What the people of Bucharest need to know is that the price they pay is set by a decision of the General Council, and as long as we do not change that decision by the General Council, the price will remain the one set at the moment, of 164 lei. We will see, possibly at the end of this month, in the CGMB meeting, to change this price that the citizens pay. That is, if we do this at the end of November and this will apply to the bill, starting in December, which is paid in February.
