The general mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, announced on Monday that the supply of the heating agent to several blocks of flats in the Capital is “under parameters”, specifying that the main supplier, Termoenergetica, has decided not to “force the network” in order not to risk the occurrence of damages, which could lead to the cessation of the service.
“At the moment, there are only two minor breakdowns on the secondary network, which will be remedied until afternoon, but there are many blocks in the Capital that have supply below parameters. It was a decision that was taken. There were two alternatives: either we go (…) on the operation under parameters, or the network is forced for a higher temperature and implicitly a higher pressure, with the risk that it will crack. And then, the decision that was taken at the level of Thermoenergetica was to go for the first option – not to force the network, so we can produce more, we can put pressure to transmit more, but we are afraid now, when it is cold outside, that the grid may crack”, Dan was quoted as saying by Agerpres.
According to him, the municipality will launch tenders for the refurbishment of 260 kilometers of the district heating network, of which 60 financed from its own funds – about 90 million euro, and 200 kilometers from European funds – about 300 million euro. Nicusor Dan estimated that, after the completion of the works, there will be a “significant improvement” in the supply of thermal agent.
“We still have 200 million euro in PNRR. That is enough for another 140 kilometers. Of course, in time, somewhere at an interval of 6-7 years, we should get to have the whole network changed. But after these 260 kilometers will be completed, even after the first 60 kilometers will be completed, the quality of the service will improve a lot, meaning we will be as we were about 3-4 years ago, when there were no major damages,” explained the mayor of Bucharest.
According to the Termoenergetica’s website, on Monday, at several hundred blocks of flats and buildings in the Capital, the heating agent was supplied at insufficient parameters.
