Nijhuis Industries inked a transaction for constructing a 12 million euro waste water treatment plant at Azomureş, the fifth in size and complexity that the Dutch company is doing this year.
Following investment in upgrading facilities, worth over 230 million euros, Azomureş aims, apart from compliance with environmental regulations, increasing production capacity to 1.5 million tons of fertilizers annually from 1.3 million tons, the currently production. The list of investment also includes a project to increase energy efficiency, leading to savings of 14,000 MWh of electricity each year.
The investment at Azomureş treatment plant is among the most important Industries Nijhuis made for large companies such as Shell, ExxonMobil, Tengizchevroil (TCO) Kazakhstan or Unilever, says the Executive Director at Dutch Nijhuis Industries, Menno Holterman, quoted by Agerpres.
“We are developing separate technologies, tailored based on the origin of wastewater. The design is specific to each investment. We are present in Romania through 22 projects, but the project at Azomureş is one of the 5 largest projects we run this year. The Romanian market is very interesting in the coming period in terms of waste water treatment. 85% of our projects are developed for industrial customers and 15% for municipal customers. Through this ambitious project, Azomureş invests for the next 20 years in waste water treatment”, said Menno Holterman.
He said that Nijhuis Water Technology is a global player, has 240 employees, operates in 110 countries worldwide and carried out over 2,400 projects in the US, China, Russia, Britain, India, Ukraine, China and so on. Starting this year Nijhuis Industries Holding will be present in the Middle East and Africa.
The General Director of Azomureş, Mihai Aniței, said that the shareholder, Ameropa, decided to work with Nijhuis Water Technology to achieve waste water treatment plant since this was the only company that has provided guarantees that water discharged will be within the limits set by environmental standards.
Mihai Aniţei showed that on Azomureş platform are executed investments related to facilities modernization plan announced in 2012 after the takeover by the Swiss company Ameropa. According to the plan, will be upgraded the two ammonia production plants, the urea production plant is reconstructed, a new waste water treatment plant build and will be reconstructed granulation tower related to sections of ammonia nitrate and NPK, to solve the problem of emissions into the environment.
