The National Meteorological Administration (NAM) will benefit from European funds worth almost 40 million euros through four meteorological infrastructure projects that will be finalized in 2023, said Elena Mateescu, general manager of the institution.
“Infrastructure projects funded by European funds from both the Operational Sectorial Environment Program, carried out between 2007 and 2013, as well as the current form of financing – 2014-2020 POI, which the NMA have implemented, are under implementation or underway. At this moment we can say that we are the beneficiaries of four projects financed by European funds, four infrastructure projects: Developing the national system for monitoring and warning of dangerous meteorological phenomena for ensuring the protection of life and material assets, financed during 2007 – 2013, which is being implemented, the second project is basically a continuation of the first one in implementation and was signed on December 21, 2018. In preparation, Technical Assistance for the Financing Application and award documentation for the Inframeteo project and the project itself, which is mainly based on the purchase of seven new radars, as compared to the current radar infrastructure in Romania,” Elena Mateescu explained, according to Agerpres.
