Nofar Energy has 1 GW of photovoltaic projects underway in Romania and plans to add more energy storage units in the next six months, said Andreea Gilicel, the company’s Financial Director.
“Batteries will be put on all our PV projects, and for internal balancing, we want to hybridize some projects, adding wind turbines where possible,” Gilicel explained at the Energy Strategy Summit 2024, organized by Energynomics.
The company, which started operations in Romania two years ago, already has a 155 MW operational project and another 400 MW in the pipeline, to be completed in 2025.
“Our strategy was to be the first to connect to the network to avoid the current problems,” Gilicel said.
Nofar Energy has ambitious goals and hopes to have the support of the authorities. According to Gilicel, the company needs predictability and the consumer market needs to be educated.
