The construction of reactors 3 and 4 from Cernavoda will cost seven billion euros, and the investment decision and site mobilization is estimated for 2024, Cosmin Ghita, general manager of Nuclearelectrica, said on Tuesday in a profile conference.
“We are about to complete the feasibility study, we made an update to the 2012 study. In parallel with a series of evaluations of the compliance of the structures and the technological project with the nuclear safety directives. We will soon come to the GSM (General Shareholders’ Meeting –e.n.) with a proposal to start this project,” he said, according to Agerpres.
According to him, until the final structuring of the project and the mobilization of the site, very extensive preparations are needed.
“Therefore, we expect that the commissioning of Unit 3 will be, according to PNIESC (National Integrated Energy Plan for Climate Change – e.n.), around 2030-2031, which means a site mobilization around 2024. Until then we have preceding phases,” added Ghita.
Asked what the total value of the project of the two reactors is, he said: “The last feasibility study and the last reference – I will give a figure, but we are updating it now to submit it to the shareholders’ vote and until I come with this information in the GSM not a to give it a preliminary – but I can say what was the last time it was assumed in the GSM and I had a total cost of the project of about seven billion euros, meaning both the contribution of assets and the actual construction.”
