The state-owned company Nuclearelectrica (SNN), the operator of the Cernavodă power plant, is preparing to launch the due-dilligence operations in order to take over the uranium concentrate processing line from the Feldioara branch of the National Uranium Company (CNU).
Last summer, SNN submitted a non-binding offer in this regard to its majority shareholder, the Ministry of Energy (now the Ministry of Economy, Energy and the Business Environment), which is also the sole shareholder of CNU, according to Profit.ro.
Thus, Nuclearelectrica initiated a tender for “consulting services necessary to perform due diligence analysis (technical, environmental, financial, legal) for a potential takeover by SN Nuclearelectrica SA of the uranium concentrate processing line (CTU/ U3O8 ) from the National Uranium Company (CNU) – Feldioara Branch.” The value of the consultancy contract envisaged by Nuclearelectrica is estimated at almost 1.9 million lei.
