At the recent conference “From nZEB to ZEB: Performance without compromise” held in Bucharest (see VIDEO), the president of the Romanian Order of Energy Auditors (OAER), Cătălin Lungu, presented the strategic directions that the organisation will follow in 2025. OAER will focus on the development of new projects essential for the energy efficiency and decarbonisation of buildings in Romania, after the finalisation of ENERG+, the first energy design, certification and auditing software developed by the authors of Mc001/2022.
One-stop-shop for energy performance of buildings
One of the main objectives for 2025 is the consolidation of the EPB One Stop Shop concept, an initiative launched in partnership with the Technical University of Construction Bucharest (UTCB) as early as 2024. It will simplify access to integrated energy efficiency services for local authorities as well as property developers and building owners.
EPB One Stop Shop builds on the combined expertise of UTCB academics and industry specialists, including energy auditors, designers and architects, and aims to provide sound technical advice for the implementation of energy efficiency measures, as well as to correct problems caused by a lack of information at the local government level.
In addition, OAER aims to develop training programmes for students, pupils and specialists so that they can apply the latest concepts and technologies in the field of energy efficiency.
Romania ZEB Academy
Another major project for 2025 is the setting up of the Romania ZEB Academy, an initiative to support the transition to Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB), in line with the new EPD Directive adopted at European level.
The Academy will play a key role in educating and training industry specialists, helping to define and implement ZEB standards in Romania. A crucial aspect of this process is the integration of market and academic expertise, providing a solid framework for research and practical application.
The new legislation requires all new buildings to be ZEB buildings by 2030, which necessitates a profound change in the way buildings are designed and executed. OAER aims to actively contribute to this transition by developing guidelines, methodologies and software to support energy auditors and other professionals in the field.
OAER will continue to develop innovative software to support energy auditors ENERG+, a unique tool on the market that automates the generation of audit and compliance reports in the ZEB standard. This software will be enhanced to include feasibility studies on the use of renewable and high efficiency energy sources. OAER also aims to stimulate innovation and collaboration in energy efficiency by promoting strategic partnerships with public institutions, academia and the private sector.
