Oil Terminal Constanța, the operator of the state oil terminal on the Black Sea, received six intentions to participate in the tender for the construction of the new bitumen terminal, according to a statement sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). Until the deadline of 20.10.2023, intentions were submitted by Takida Terminal, Euronova Energies, Frial S.A., OMV Petrom S.A., Trafigura Pte Ltd and Vitaro Energy.
The company is interested in establishing partnerships, as it does not have its own sources for the implementation of such development projects. Currently, only one provider of bitumen handling and storage services operates in the premises of Port Constanța.
In the following period, meetings will be established with each of the participating companies to identify the most suitable solutions for establishing the partnership to build the bitumen terminal, the firm offers subsequently obtained will be submitted to the analysis of the General Meeting of Shareholders.
“We have confirmation from the market regarding the opportunity to develop a bitumen terminal in Constanța Port. There are 6 offers, including from serious global companies. A competitive and transparent selection procedure will follow, as undertaken by the management of OIL Terminal. We respond to a need from the domestic market, for which Romania covers less than a quarter of domestic production. In addition, it is important to prepare now, through this strategic investment, for the reconstruction effort of Ukraine in the years to come,” said Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Energy.
