Probably one of the most frequent requests of foreign investors in recent decades, a stable and predictable fiscal and regulatory framework was once again among the topics of discussion at Cotroceni, during the meeting between President Ilie Bolojan and OMV officials from Austria and Romania.

The Interim President of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, received on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Cotroceni Palace, a delegation of OMV Petrom, consisting of members of the executive management of OMV Austria, the main shareholder, and representatives of OMV Petrom management.

Two main topics were addressed during the meeting: the implementation status of the Neptun Deep project and the company’s future investment projects. OMV Petrom representatives presented the progress of this project and highlighted the good collaboration with the partner Romgaz, noting that its implementation is proceeding according to plan, respecting both the initial schedule and the allocated budget, says the Presidential Administration (PA).

Regarding future investment projects, given the close economic partnership with Romania, OMV Petrom intends to continue investments, especially in the field of renewable energy, aiming to become the most important renewable fuel producer in Southeastern Europe.

The acting President of Romania welcomed the company’s new initiatives and stressed the importance of investments, both from foreign and Romanian capital, in the current economic context.

“OMV Petrom management raised the company’s concerns regarding the need for a stable and predictable fiscal and regulatory framework.

“President Ilie Bolojan explained the complexity of the country’s economic situation, marked by large deficits, and stressed that some legislative measures are necessary to support the population in difficulty in paying energy bills,” the AP statement added.

The interim president of Romania highlighted the importance of a fair and efficient partnership, in which the legitimate rights of the Romanian state, as a minority shareholder, are respected and also to ensure the continuity of OMV Petrom’s activity, essential for the Romanian economy.
