OMV Petrom doesn’t foresee any issues with gas supply for this winter
The Romanian market will have enough gas to get through this winter, but we need to make sure we can import enough to cover peak consumption, said Franck Neel, a member of OMV Petrom’s Board of Directors, responsible for downstream gas activity.
“At the moment, we see that the storage level is lower than last year, but compared to other years it is at a pretty good level, so we are quite confident that the Romanian market will have enough gas for the peak levels of demand, during the winter,” the company representative said in a press conference, according to Agerpres.
He said imports would still be needed.
“Of course, we depend on imports, not just storage. We need to make sure that we can import enough and hopefully have access to enough gas. We expect a new flow of gas from the Black Sea and the North. Stream in the first quarter, which will help resolve the supply situation,” Neel added.
On Tuesday, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, also gave assurances that this winter there will be no problems with gas supply.
“This winter will be like last winter, like two winters now, because we have the same capacities, even an even greater extraction capacity, but no more import capacities are reserved in advance, which is a way to sensitize the market.
