The “Forward Romania” Platform is “a long-running national project, designed to set in motion and support key projects in the fields of education, health and environment, initiatives that contribute to Romania’s sustainable development”, announces OSCAR Downstream, the largest independent fuel distribution company in Romania. The platform reinforces OSCAR Downstream’s business strategy of investing in sustainability amid accelerating the green transition and with a focus on Romania’s energy future.
As one of the top 10 tax payers in Romania, OSCAR Downstream is expanding its mission to support the national economy by building a better future for the communities in which it operates. “Romania Tot Inainte” is the platform on which non-governmental organizations, as well as OSCAR Downstream’s business partners, are invited to dialogue and joint projects that help Romania develop in areas where investment in education, health and the environment is needed. “Through this program, we aim to support non-profit organizations that work every day to build a better country,” says Nicolae Bănică, CEO of OSCAR Downstream, a company with a 23-year track record.
“We aim to make a positive impact in communities, educate new generations about sustainability and ensure access to essential healthcare services where it is most needed,” adds Luiza Dumitru, Communication & Marketing Director OSCAR Downstream.
The company’s decision means a strong investment in projects that put education, health and environmental investment first.
The start of the #RomaniaTotInainte platform is marked by three partnerships with a positive impact on society, strategic partnerships with non-governmental organizations with a portfolio dedicated to sustainable development: World Vision Romania, SanoVan and PlaYouth.
World Vision România
Together with World Vision Romania, OSCAR Downstream supports the “Vreau la Facultate” project, launched in 2023 with Babeș-Bolyai University, which provides support for the education of bright young people in rural areas, providing opportunities and resources for 30 young people from vulnerable communities to access higher education, complete their university studies and advance to promising careers.
At the same time, another World Vision Romania project addresses changing the perception of agriculture among young people, promoting it as a career for the future. “Proud to be a farmer” is a project supported by the #RomaniaTotInainte platform and proposes entrepreneurial and practical education in agricultural high schools, agriculture being a vital sector of the local economy in which OSCAR Downstream has been involved for over 23 years.
Sanovan
Sanovan is the mobile medical service that makes care more accessible to those in need. The “SanoVan Health Caravan” project is changing Romanians’ perspective on their health and facilitating access to medical care where time and place can be obstacles to seeking a regular check-up.
Through the #RomaniaTotInainte platform, SanoVan provides access to essential medical services in remote communities in the center and west of the country, facilitating diagnosis and prevention for children who play competitive sports and for locals in the counties: Arad, Timiș, Bihor, Sibiu and Alba.
PlaYouth
The commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the “Caravan of Creative Recycling” project, developed together with PlaYouth Association. It encourages creative upcycling and raising awareness of the effects of consumerism on the environment.
After the first two editions, the Caravan of Creative Recycling has set up hubs of creativity and sustainability in 12 counties across the country, reaching over 135,000 indirect beneficiaries, who have started to gradually transform local communities.
