Parapet, a construction company in the renewable sector, has installed a 2.5 MW photovoltaic power plant for the Romanian drug manufacturer Antibiotice Iasi. The investment amounted to approximately 11.8 million lei (equivalent to more than 2.3 million euro), partly covered by NRRP funds. The PV power plant project involved the implementation of Parapet’s design, mechanical, electrical and management infrastructure solutions.

The photovoltaic power plant will produce, on average, 3,500 MWh/year, reducing the carbon footprint by over 2,000 tons annually. The construction works were completed in November 2023, followed by compliance tests carried out by an ANRE authorized operator together with the electricity distribution company in the area. The power plant currently holds all the necessary certifications for safe electricity production.

“We are glad to see more and more Romanian companies, from various economic sectors, involved in the efficiency of electricity production and consumption and, equally, concerned with a sustainable development of their activity. We focus on their needs and come up with tailor-made, turnkey solutions to help them achieve their goal of securing as much of their electricity needs as possible from their own renewable sources. The photovoltaic power plant installed for Antibiotice Iasi is a reference project in this regard, we are happy to be part of the sustainability solutions adopted by the company”, said Andrada Moldovan, CEO Parapet.

The photovoltaic plant project involved the implementation of Parapet solutions for design, mechanical, electrical and management infrastructure. On an area of approximately 3.5 hectares, a system comprising 4,680 photovoltaic panels with monocrystalline technology was installed on a fixed structure.

“Reducing our carbon footprint, given the EU’s vision of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, is a strategic concern for Antibiotice. We have built an energy efficiency strategy on our platform to ensure a certain degree of energy autonomy in our industrial processes, and this investment is an important step in this direction. Of the total annual energy consumed, we will provide more than a quarter from renewable sources and this will contribute significantly to the decarbonisation process,” said Ioan Nani, Antibiotice CEO.

Parapet participated in the construction of 1 GW of renewable energy production units using solar panels, at European level. The company operates mainly in Germany; however, around 20% of its project are located in Romania.

Parapet’s portfolio includes over 250 installed mixed or photovoltaic power plants, turnkey projects or in different stages of the works, with a total installed capacity exceeding 1 GWp. The photovoltaic power plants built by Parapet produce, in total, an average of approximately 1,200 GWh / year, avoiding annual CO2 emissions of approximately 1,000,000 tons.
