OMV Petrom, the leader of the Romanian fuel distribution market, has in several stations the service of paying the road tax for Bulgaria, writes e-nergia.ro. The company offers this service in 17 Petrom gas stations.

Bulgarian authorities charge a toll of 10 lev for a weekend (Friday from 12.00 to Sunday at 23.59), 15 lev for a week, 30 lev for a month, 54 lev for three months and 97 lev for one year.

The purchase of a vignette can also be done at the border, but it can be a bit more expensive, for example, the price for a month is 80 lei (vs.77.7 in gas station) and in some cases it cannot be paid in lev, but only in lei or euro. The official exchange rate for 1 lev is of 2.51 lei, but at exchange offices a lev can be purchased for 2.59-2.63 lei.
