The greening project of the Iaz Batal 30 ha – Târgu Mureş site, the former landfill for chemical waste from Azomureș, will be transformed into a photovoltaic park, the project manager, Csegzi Sandor, told Radio Romania Actualitati.
The project is part of a series of 37 similar sites in Romania, and the greening, which cost over 13 million euros, was done with a substantial delay, the initial deadline being set for December 2015.
“The project did not cost us any money, but only a collaboration with Azomureş, of which we were endowed with these 30 hectares and, of course, with a series of facilities,” said the mayor of Târgu Mureş, Dorin Florea, during a conference, according to Agerpres.
Csegzi Sandor also stated that both the 30 ha site and a former 40 ha landfill, also greened, will be transformed into solar parks.
Târgu Mureș City Hall announced last week the completion of the site’s greening works, following a European project worth a total of over 13 million euro, accessed by the municipality.
