Renewable energy is essential to achieve energy independence and could lead to lower prices at national and regional level, said on Tuesday Carlo Pignoloni, president of the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA), at the RESinvest 2022 conference.
“The European and specific energy context prove that energy from renewable sources is essential to achieve energy independence. The current global energy crisis proves that the only viable source of energy is the natural one. Romania has impressive potential in terms of energy from renewable sources, which, if exploited, could make it easier to meet climate targets and lower energy prices nationally and regionally,” he said.
He added that very soon, the European Commission will present the REPowerEU plan, which will draw new directions towards achieving energy independence in Europe.
“We have a new direction now, and the level of talks has already exceeded the proposed targets. The implementation of energy projects is essential for energy security,” Pignoloni said.
“We want to emphasize the importance of developing local value chains, which include production capacity for the renewables sector, but also the training required for employees at all levels, as well as the importance of investing in research and development. This initiative comes at a time when energy demand at global level is very high, and this implies many economic opportunities,” the RWEA representative said, according to Agerpres.
He added that it is important to develop digital energy solutions as well as invest in education.
“We are trying to initiate open discussions with the authorities and with all stakeholders. Romania’s future depends on our actions today, to ensure a cleaner, safer and more sustainable future for all of us,” Pignoloni said.
