The Ministry of Energy has extended the deadline for high-efficiency cogeneration projects financed via PNRR in the district heating sector to October 1, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, announced on Facebook.
“PNRR! Important! Of interest, especially for town halls: We have extended the period for submitting projects for the “State aid scheme with the objective of supporting investments in high-efficiency cogeneration in the district heating sector” until October 1, at 5:00 p.m. The total estimated budget of the scheme is the equivalent in lei of the sum of 388,050,000 euros (the equivalent in lei at the exchange rate of 4.9195 lei/euro), composed of 298,500,000 euros of European funds secured through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the National Plan of Recovery and Resilience – Component C.6 Energy and national funds of 89,550,000 euros by applying the 30% overcontracting percentage,” the minister’s press release states.
Fundable projects under the call must ensure the construction or modernization of high-efficiency cogeneration electricity and heat production units in the gas-fired, flexible and high-efficiency cogeneration central heating sector. Investments must replace at least the same capacity of power plants and/or thermal energy production plants with significantly higher carbon dioxide emissions (for example, based on coal, lignite or oil), thus leading to a decrease in GHG emissions.
By carrying out these projects, the aim is to increase the power installed in cogeneration in the centralized heating system by approximately 300 MW.
