The electricity distribution companies, part of the PPC Group in Romania, have merged under the name Rețele Electrice Romania. The merger of the companies into a single legal entity aims to optimise specific operations in the three regions – Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia – by streamlining the allocation of resources and reducing administrative complexity.
The new company will continue to provide electricity distribution services in Bucharest and the counties of Ilfov, Giurgiu, Constanța, Tulcea, Ialomița, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Timis, Hunedoara and Arad. Customers will continue to benefit from services that we will continually improve, advanced technologies in electricity distribution and digital technical and interaction solutions.
“Digitised and resilient grids are essential to offer customers services adapted to the new realities of the energy transition, with increased consumption at household level, decentralised energy production at prosumers or electric mobility. Through the merger of our companies, we will improve operational efficiency in the medium and long term, which will allow us to accelerate the modernisation of the distribution networks and make a key contribution to Romania’s energy transition,” said Mihai Pește, Managing Director of Rețele Electrice Romania.
The new company will continue its commitment to major investments in order to increase the resilience of the electricity distribution network, modernise the infrastructure and advance its digitisation to better meet the challenges of transforming the energy system and consumption flows, as well as climate change and extreme weather events.
Customer interaction channels
Customer contact centres remain unchanged, as do contact phone numbers. Customers can contact the company for disturbances on the same phone numbers:
- Arad, Caraș-Severin, Hunedoara, Timiș: 0800.070.444 (TelVerde) or county prefix + 929 (normal rate)
- Călărași, Constanța, Ialomița, Tulcea: 0800.070.555 (TelVerde) or county prefix + 929 (normal rate)

These numbers are available 24/7 from anywhere in the country. Further information about electricity supply is also available online at reteleelectrice.ro.
The company is also launching a new website, Rețele Electrice Romania, at www.reteleelectrice.ro, with a number of new features designed to offer customers a more intuitive and informative digital experience. On the home page, users can use the outage widget where, by entering the POD code of the place of consumption, they can quickly check whether there is a planned or accidental power cut. The new smart meter widget also allows users to find out if they already have a smart meter installed at their address or when it is scheduled to be installed, giving them the opportunity to leave their contact details for an appointment.
The contact form has also been improved, making it simpler and more intuitive to use, with clear steps and an option to anonymously report electricity theft. Users now have the option to submit the installation file online without authentication, essential in the grid connection process. The section dedicated to connection information is now step-by-step, providing an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide. In addition, the applications hub brings together the documentation needed for various interactions with the distributor, along with an interactive map of information centres and a page with accessible explanations of specific energy distribution terms.
