Premier Energy has separated its natural gas supply and distribution activities in Romania, in accordance with European requirements, the company announced.
Thus, since February, the supply of natural gas is operated by the new entity Premier Energy, while NeoGas Grid becomes the company responsible for natural gas distribution within the group.
“The steps to separate the two types of services began in the second half of last year and are part of a broader process of alignment with European regulations, but also of optimizing the group’s operations. This division does not affect the quality of services offered to customers, who will continue to benefit from transparency, efficiency and safety,” the press release states.
NeoGas Grid will ensure the operation of an extensive low and medium pressure gas distribution network, with a length of almost 4,000 kilometers, concentrated around the Capital, in the south and west of the country, as well as in localities in northern Romania.
The current expansion rate is approximately 400 km per year, which confirms the company’s commitment to developing the national energy infrastructure.
NeoGas Grid is currently the third player on the local natural gas distribution market.
Benefiting from a modernized network prepared for the transition to green hydrogen, NeoGas Grid is strengthening its role as a natural gas distribution operator, offering sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
“NeoGas Grid continues to rely on transparency, reliability and innovation to meet customer needs. At the same time, by adopting cleaner technologies and a continuous improvement strategy, it aligns itself with the global energy transition. At the beginning of February, Neogas Grid also launched its official website www.neogas.ro, where customers in the distribution network can find new contact details and support information. For emergencies, the TelVerde number remains unchanged, precisely to ensure the same rapid reaction in critical situations,” the press release states.
With one of the fastest growth rates in the South-Eastern European region, the Premier Energy Group operates through its business verticals – electricity generation, supply and distribution; renewable energy production and management (wind and solar) and natural gas supply and distribution.
The Group owns, manages or has under development over 1,200 MW of renewable energy generation capacity (mainly wind and photovoltaic) and supplies electricity to approximately 2.3 million consumption points in Romania and Moldova, the vast majority being households and small businesses. The Group also owns an extensive electricity distribution network in Moldova, covering approximately 75% of the country’s population.
Premier Energy is also a supplier of natural gas to household and non-household consumers (in retail, industry, trade) and owns and operates a gas distribution network of over 3,800 km in the areas around the capital, in the south and west of the country, as well as in smaller localities in the north of Romania. The company is the third largest player in the natural gas distribution market.
