Primary energy resources decreased by 2% in the first two months

Primary energy resources decreased by 2%, in the first two months of the current year, and those of electricity increased by 2.1%, compared to the same period of 2019, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The main primary energy resources between January 1 and February 29, 2020 totaled 5.746 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), decreasing by 120,000 toe compared to January 1 – February 28, 2019.

Domestic production totaled 3.29 million toe, down by 48,800 toe from the same period of the previous year, and the import was of 2.455 million toe, according to Agerpres.

During this period, electricity resources amounted to 11.761 billion kWh, up by 240.8 million kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2019.

The output from the power plants was of 4.445 billion kWh, decreasing by 541.0 million kWh (-10.8%). Hydropower production increased to 2.157 billion kWh, up by 22.7 million kWh (+ 1.1%), and that from nuclear-power plants increased to 2.036 billion kWh, up by 82.9 million kWh (+ 4.2%).

Production from wind power plants between January 1 and February 29, 2020 was of 1.456 billion kWh, up 0.5 million kWh against the same period of the previous year, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was of 184.5 million kWh, up 29.3 million kWh compared to the corresponding period of 2019.

The final electricity consumption during this period was of 9.525 billion kWh, 1.7% lower than the corresponding period of 2019; public lighting increased by 3.4%, and population consumption increased by 2.8%.

Electricity export was of 1.009 billion kWh, up 468.5 million kWh.
