Aureliu Leca studied at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Department of Energy, Department of Thermoenergetics, class of 1963, graduating as valedictorian. During the period July 1968 - June 1969 studied abroad as Fulbright scholar at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, US Department of Nuclear Engineering Sciences. In 1972, he defended his doctoral thesis in the field of power plants, Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, on the topic: artificial roughness to enhance heat transfer in nuclear reactors.
Between 1990-1993 and 1997-1998 he served as President and CEO of the Autonomous Electricity - the network.
Leca Aurelius was one of the founding members of the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania.
Since January 2000 he was senior vice president of the Confederation of Romania, and in April 2003 he was Honorary President of the National Confederation of Romanian Employers.
