The National Research-Development Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) has in the process of signing two strategic projects for the development of the large research infrastructure in Romania, worth 23 million euros, it is shown in a release of the Ministry of European Funds, following the visit to Vâlcea of the minister Marcel Boloș.

Thus, about 23 million lei are dedicated to hydrogen-based energy storage solutions and for the development of partnerships that facilitate the transposition of laboratory technology in the commercial environment, and 82 million lei – for the expansion of national infrastructure to separate tritium and deuterium so that ICSI strengthens its role as a center of excellence in energy and through the results of research and development and innovation activities to contribute to developments in the field of tritium.

“We promised, we performed! With the two projects we will sign digitally on July 6, ICSI Râmnicu Vâlcea takes a big step to strengthen the capacity for research, development and innovation, which brings us even closer to the creation of the National Center for the use of hydrogen for energy purposes. This way, Romania is on the irreversible path of clean energy,” said Marcel Boloș, minister of European Funds.

ICSI has already implemented in this programming period a project through which it obtained 3 patents and managed to strengthen a competitive core in the scientific and technological field to carry out research, development and innovation in the field of hydrogen and tritium, with applicability in development of the energy sector in Romania.
