The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) will be able to reduce or charge extra for the investments of prosumers, if they reach a production capacity of more than 8% of the total installed power of Romania, declared, on Tuesday, the president of the Commission for industries and services from the Chamber of Deputies, Bende Sandor.
“I want to tell you that the European Union and the legislation currently in force say that these facilities (for prosumers – n.r.) can be given and will be given as long as they do not affect the networks. ANRE, following a study, upon notifications, will be able to stop these investments and we must tell the citizens, they must know: when the prosumers reach a production capacity of more than 8% of the total installed power of Romania, which is considered today somewhere at 18 GW, 18,000 of MW, then it can reduce or charge extra for these investments. That should be around, so 8% of 18,000, somewhere around 1,400 – 1,500 – 1,600 MW,” said Bende Sandor, according to Agerpres.
He emphasized that we are approaching this target, having exceeded the level of 1,000 MW of power installed by prosumers.
“We are fast approaching. We have exceeded 1,000 MW of installed power and problems in the distribution networks have started to appear. It is possible that someone will commission a study to see if it holds up. First and foremost, we also need production, we also need for a transition towards green energy. We also need a price that Romanians, Romanian citizens and companies in Romania can pay and remain competitive on the market, but we also need security in terms of the supply and distribution of electricity. And we can’t play here,” Bende Sandor stressed.
