The Ministry of Energy wants to set up a hub of green technologies and innovative solutions in Bucharest, said Ramona Moldovan, Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Energy, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Bucharest” organised by Energynomics together with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR.
“We try to bring innovation into all the projects we fund. We have a total of more than €13bn available from various sources. We want to set up a green technology and innovation hub in Bucharest to capitalise on these technologies from start-ups to large companies. We call it the ‘unicorn factory’ and it is a priority project for next year,” said Moldovan.
She added that the vision and strategic objectives of the national energy strategy focus on three main elements: secure, affordable and green energy for Romania and the region. To achieve these goals, Moldovan said that the Energy Ministry is investing in electricity grids and in diversifying the energy mix, both electric and thermal.
“These objectives are in line with those assumed at European level and cannot be achieved without digitisation. It is in our interest to promote and implement innovation in technologies, financing and the way we use these technologies so as to ensure secure, affordable and green energy,” Moldovan added.
