“More than a technical necessity, the modernization of district heating networks is essential for achieving sustainable development goals and means an investment in the well-being of our communities, to ensure optimal thermal comfort in Romanian homes. Through this financing program for the modernization of district heating networks, we want to support projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency, reducing polluting emissions and improving the quality of life of citizens. Investments in the modernization of district heating systems will bring multiple benefits, including: optimizing thermal energy consumption, reducing heating costs for consumers, reducing pollution and improving air quality, increasing safety in the operation of facilities, supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. We continue to do what we promised: investments, investments, investments. “Romania is a European champion in attracting non-reimbursable financing from the Modernization Fund, as a result of the efforts of the last two years, and we will continue to support the modernization of the Romanian energy system through this historic opportunity that our country has,” said Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, quoted in the press release.
