Crude oil prices in international markets have risen by almost 15% over the past two weeks, following a steep decline in October-December 2018, more than 40% for WTI and Brent. The deceleration also translated into the level of retail car fuel prices sold in Romania, which dropped by more than 60 bani, about 10%, starting in November 2018.
On the other hand, since January 1, the prices for car fuels have increased following the entry into force of two normative acts: indexation of excises with the inflation rate, respectively the increase of the mandatory content of biofuels in gasoline and diesel.
In 2019, energynomics.ro will monitor the evolution of prices for gasoline and diesel sold at Petrom stations in eight major cities in Romania: Bucharest, Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Oradea, Constanta and Craiova.
On Monday this week, the highest levels among stations selected by energynomics.ro were recorded in Braşov, Bucharest and Craiova for both types of car fuel. For standard gasoline 95, in two cities the retail prices were less than 5 lei per liter (Constanta and Iasi).
