Rezolv Energy has investments of over 2.3 billion euros in renewable energy infrastructure in Romania. Even though some projects are delayed, Romania has enormous potential in the green energy sector, said Alastair Hammond, CEO of Rezolv Energy, on the occasion of the conference “International Approach: Catalyzing Romania’s energy future”, organised by Energynomics in London.

“Some of our investments are delayed, but we are ready to invest this year, and we won’t stop here – this doesn’t even cover half of our plans for energy storage and integration. Romania is a great country for business. It has started to provide a very good environment for investors like us. There is a huge untapped potential. It is one of the regions with the potential to become an industrial hub of Europe, and that requires energy. Romania has excellent wind and solar energy resources, as well as a favorable regulatory framework,” he added.

Hammond mentioned that Romania is “well ahead of the curve” in terms of the energy transition and the country has established a framework for implementing bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs), which are essential for enabling private investors to procure their energy directly from renewable energy projects, providing revenue certainty for these projects. Additionally, Rezolv is investing in Romania due to the scale of the available projects. The company is investing in a 460 MW wind farm in Buzău and is building in Arad the largest solar project in Europe, with a capacity of over 1 GW. The company also aims to invest in energy storage solutions for all its projects.

“Renewable energy alone is not the complete answer, but (…) renewables are here to stay. It is fundamentally important for Romania to have a consistent and growing source of renewable energy. Many international investors are looking for companies within their supply chains to source renewable energy,” Hammond added.

The conference “International Approach: Catalyzing Romania’s energy future” was organised by Energynomics in London with the support of our partners AJ Brand, Elektra Renewable Support, Adrem Asset Management, Enexus, Nofar Energy, Parapet, Wiren.
