Romgaz’s strategy aims at diversification, involving investments of 15.7 billion lei, in the next 7 years, said Robert Chircă, Deputy General Manager of Romgaz, according to Financial Intelligence.
The Covid 19 pandemic, as well as the fact that we had a warm winter, made Romgaz work at 50-60% capacity: “This forces us to accelerate certain processes, we are talking about diversification, growth opportunities, so that we use our full potential. Our strategy aims at diversification, involving investments of 15.7 billion lei in the next 7 years. The strategy is focused on the core business area – to maintain production, to reduce the decline. We are talking about partnerships with other companies, both in the Black Sea area and others, too”.
Chircă mentioned that Romgaz started the steps for diversification in the petrochemical area, having an innovative vision – the possibility of transforming natural gas into methanol: ”We want to make an investment in the construction of a new, greenfield methanol production unit. We are also working on projects that cover the electricity area – the Iernut power plant, with a capacity of approximately 430 MW. We make every effort to produce at full capacity at the end of the year. We also have in view the construction of a new power plant in the Mintia area. We want to diversify in the wind, solar, geothermal area, even biogas.”
