Prime Minister Ludovic Orban released Rodin Traicu from the position of director of the National Comission for the Control of Nuclear Activities (CNCAN) and replaced him with Gheorghe Ionita, currently president of the Scientific Council of the National Institute for Research and Development for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI) Râmnicu Vâlcea, former PNL vice-president of Vâlcea, who has also previously led the Nuclear Agency and for Radioactive Waste, according to Profit.ro. Traicu was a PSD deputy and former director of Romanian Utility for Nuclear Activities RAAN.
Gheorghe Ioniță, the new president of CNCAN, with the rank of Secretary of State, is a doctor in nuclear energy and a graduate of postdoctoral courses at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, also a graduate and postgraduate of various courses in chemistry.
