Romania needs to become energy independent again and even resume its energy exports. These things can be achieved by installing new energy production capacities from renewable sources.
“We have to become independent again as a country, not just to cover our internal consumption, but in the not-so-distant future to become a net exporter again. However, there are still things to improve”, said Adrian Borotea, Vice President of RWEA, at the conference “More renewables for Romania”, organized by Energynomics.
Investors have submitted projects of many thousands of megawatts, for both photovoltaic and wind installations. However, statistically, 1,000 MW projects will reach the commissioning point. “We have many wind and photovoltaic projects on the way, and by 2025 we have a chance to have at least 1,000 MW, if not 2,000 MW,” he said.
Most of the time, the commissioning dates of the projects ready for approval are 2025, 2026, or even sooner.
Another positive aspect is the fact that there are multiple financing programs for these investments.
“The funding announced by the state strengthens the confidence of investors to continue their projects. Such news is needed and I’m sure it’s just the beginning,” Borotea said.
