Romania is facing one of the most acute shortages of certified installers in the renewable energy sector in Europe and needs to turn first to local labour before resorting to importing immigrants, said Alberto Lupașcu, CEO of Greensun East Europe, at the “Energy Day” conference organised by Energynomics within the Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec 2025.

“The Romanian market has among the fewest authorised installers compared to other major markets in Europe. There is a shortage. Sure, we can import labour, but more important is to look at the human resource here, the people who need stability. A job brings stability and this area offers clear opportunities,” said Lupașcu.

According to Lupașcu, Romania needs to think long term when it comes to investing in renewable energy equipment, but unfortunately many consumers still prioritise the low cost of the equipment over its quality. He said the fast pace of change in the industry could radically influence the direction of the market. That is why investment in sustainable equipment is becoming crucial, especially in areas such as photovoltaics and electric mobility.

The conference „Energy Day at Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec” was organized by Energynomics, with the support of our partners Elektra Renewable Support, LONGi, SolaX Power and with the involvement of HENRO, COGEN România, CIGRE România and FEL România.
