Private companies are invited by the Ministry of Energy to participate in projects aimed at achieving the energy transition to a carbon-free society, said Dan Drăgan, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, at the 11th Energynomics Awards Gala.

“In the coming period, together with the business community, we want to achieve the targets we have set ourselves at country level. Through the Modernisation Fund and the NRRP, we have developed schemes, guidelines and launched calls for new energy production capacity in line with Romania’s decarbonisation plan,” said the Secretary of State.

Romania has 2 billion euros for the renewable sector, a further 2 billion euros for investment in energy transmission and distribution, and 400 euros million for new high-efficiency cogeneration units.

Funds of 590 million euros are also available for heat networks.

With the targeted investments, Romania would add 10,000 MW of green energy capacity by 2030.

“All these amounts have been allocated, some are already in contract implementation,” said Dragan.

In addition, the authorities expect to carry out the design of nuclear reactors 3 and 4 at the Cernavodă plant, as well as small modular reactors in partnership with the US.
