According to Eurostat, Romania’s Gross Domestic Product in 2019 was of about 223 billion euros in current prices, above that of the Czech Republic (220 billion euros) or Portugal (212 billion euros).
The European Union’s Gross Domestic Product in 2019 was of about 13.9 trillion euros in current prices, and in real terms the EU GDP was 17% higher in 2019 than in 2009, according to data released by Eurostat.
About a quarter (24.7%) of EU GDP was generated by Germany, followed by France (17.4%), Italy (12.8%), Spain (8.9%) and the Netherlands (5.8%), according to Agerpres.
On the other hand, ten Member States contributed less than 1% of the European Union’s total GDP: Malta (0.1%), Estonia, Cyprus and Latvia (all with 0.2%), Lithuania and Slovenia (both by 0.3%), Bulgaria and Croatia (both by 0.4%), Luxembourg (0.5%) and Slovakia (0.7%).
Romania’s contribution to the total GDP of the European Union was of 1.6% in 2019, equal to that of the Czech Republic but higher than that of Portugal (1.5%) or Greece (1.3%).
