Romgaz gave another extension, for two weeks, for the fifth time, to the consortium that is building the Iernut power plant, a project much delayed, before terminating the contract, writes e-nergia.ro.

Thus, Romgaz informed the shareholders, through a release sent to the Stock Exchange, that “on June 2, 2021, it extended the term of suspension of the notification of termination of the Works Contract no. 138484/2016, having as object the Development of CTE Iernut, through the construction of a 430 MW thermal power plant, with a combined cycle with gas turbines, until June 16, 2021.”

The decision to extend the suspension of the notice of termination was taken following the letter of the Executor, “requesting a further extension of the term of suspension of the notice of termination, in order to negotiate and agree on a solution to ensure the completion and implementation of the investment objective, in the shortest possible time.”

This is the fifth time that Romgaz has postponed the decision to terminate the contract with the consortium formed by Romelectro and Duro Felguera for the delayed project of the 430 MW Iernut plant. The initial termination decision was announced in March.

Romgaz first announced on April 9 that it is currently suspending the termination of the contract for the construction of the long-awaited Iernut gas plant. Romelectro and Duro Felguera then received a deadline of 14 days to come up with a proposal to complete the project as soon as possible.
